Remove Charge Offs from ReportsHere are some practical steps to take to remove a charge off from your credit report:

First off make sure to have a copy of your credit report in front of you.  If you do not you can retrieve a copy from http://annualcreditreport.com for free.  The first thing you will want to do is identify the charged off debts on your credit report so that you know which companies each debt is associated with.

The next step is to draft a debt dispute letter, also know as a debt validation letter. The purpose of this letter is to challenge the negative entries on your credit report.  Send this to each of the three main credit bureaus, upon receiving your letter, each agency will review your letter and decide weather or not to open a credit investigation case on your behalf.

If they open a case and your items are deemed ‘unverifable’ then the charged off debts will be removed from your credit report for that particular agency.  If you are not comfortable doing these types of tasks, you can always employ a professional credit repair team to give you a hand.  www.LexingtonLaw.com has a great track record, and if doing credit repair by yourself is not your cup of tea, you can give them a call for a free credit consultation at 1-800-251-3505.
